Description
1987 Fender American Vintage ’62 / Custom Shop ’65 Stratocaster Candy Apple Red Build
Up for sale, here is an incredible high end partscaster, built around early to mid ’60s Stratocaster specs using premium original Fender components. This is a Custom Shop level instrument at heart, assembled with care and attention to period correct detail, and priced for the player.
The foundation is an original 1987 Fender American Vintage ’62 Stratocaster neck, one of the most respected reissue necks Fender ever produced. It features a slab rosewood fingerboard with a vintage 7.25″ radius and measures .810 at the 1st fret and .930 at the 12th, full feeling profile. The neck is completely original, still loaded with its original tuners, and carries an aged, tinted lacquer finish and original decal logo. Some of the lacquer on the back has been removed for a smoother, faster playing feel, giving it a naturally played in look that suits the build perfectly.
The neck is paired with an original (early 00’s?) Fender Custom Shop ’65 Reissue Stratocaster body with factory Relic finish in Candy Apple Red, with all factory stamps present, as shown in the photos. It is dressed with an aged white pickguard loaded with a Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickup set. The wiring harness is period correct throughout, including a NOS orange disc ceramic capacitor, and the guitar retains an original Fender tremolo bridge. A reproduction L Series neck plate completes the vintage look.
At 7.8 lbs, the guitar is comfortable and resonant, and it plays incredibly well all the way up the neck. It ships in a Fender G&G Tweed hardshell case, professionally packed and fully insured, to the continental US and select international destinations.
