1974 Ampeg B-15N Black Line Portaflex 2-Channel 30-Watt 1×15″ Fliptop Tube Bass Amp
Up for sale, A Classic of the Classics, an incredible early 1974 Ampeg B-15N Black square lines from face Portaflex All Tube Bass combo amp made in Linden, NJ in Very Good+ condition.
The Black square line was introduced in late ’73/early ’74 and while still remains the same circuit form the earlier ’60s models, these models still have the dual two inputs, which is useful for bridging both channels in parallel. The Serial # is 53379, The CTS Speaker serial number shows 1971 and all CTS pots are dated early ’74. Since the early days the B-15 has become the holy grail of the Bass amps for studio use. This is the father of the SVT, it’s essentially a smaller version of it, with the advantage of getting a rich warm tone at very low volumes.
The Amp is almost all original with the exception of the dolly cart (which is a replacement from flip tops.net), the rubber sealing gasket that makes a great job having no rattles, a 3 prong power cord for safety reasons, 1/4″ speaker plug and of course the tubes.
Other than that, all transformers, most of the capacitors, speaker, tolex and grill (which has a small tear but still in great shape), and all electronics are original and in excellent shape, perfectly working flawlessly.
The amp has been really well preserved for its age and it’s ready to be played for many years to come.
As you can imagine, Local pickup in LA is much preferred. Although shipping out to Continental US is an option. Feel free to check the reviews, The amp will be professionally double boxed, packed and fully insured. Please keep in mind this takes a lot of time, dedication and some good quality supplies for packing an item like this (fairly heavy and delicate) hence the shipping cost.
