Vintage 1966 Fender Precision Ocean Turquoise Metallic (L Series)
Description
Vintage 1966 Fender Precision (L Series) Ocean Turquoise Metallic
This is an incredible and unique early ’66 P-Bass (5MAR 66C stamped on the neck) and probably one of the last with L series on the neck plate (L96xxx). Brazilian Rosewood fretboard meaning has all the sweet stuff left from the Pre-CBS era.
8.3 Lbs. (Very lightweight for a Precision).
Beautifully refinished by MJT in stunning Nitrocellulose Ocean Turquoise Metallic. It’s definitely a Players Bass, one of the few that they sound like the real deal.
If you’re not familiar with MJT finished please go check them out online. You can definitely see the incredible job, checking all over the body and moderate relic with its original mint pickguard. The neck finish is original as well as the decal logo.
The neck is one of a kind, typical Quartersawn Maple with Brazilian rosewood and pearl dots, reverse tuners and transition logo, super smooth, slim and typical 1,75″ nut width and .809” neck thickness at 1st fret (which means on the slimmer side, but not the slimmest and not the chunkier one). Everything on the neck is original except from the tuners that seems to be Fender vintage reissue and the frets that were replaced at some point and i must say whoever did it, made an amazing job cause it really plays amazingly well throughout the whole fretboard without any fret issues at all. The neck is perfectly straight with truss rod fully functional.
As far as the electronics the pickup is original. At some point a previous owner replaced the pots for non period correct ones, so as soon as i got this bass i replaced them for a brand new solder-less Volume, Tone and jack wiring harness (period correct, same spec capacitor) custom ordered from Charlie’s Gear here from Reverb (go check his reputation and his work). Besides the pots, the knobs are original, as well as the pickups and wiring.
Bridge, thumbrest and covers are original. The bass comes with its original black tolex case which is in very good condition condition considering its age and fully functional (the right side latch button is broken, but still functional if you use a pick or nail pick).
It’ll be professionally packed and insured to Continental US only. Local pickup in LA is also available at no cost.
