Vintage 1962 Fender Precision Bass (Slab Board) – Olympic White Refinish

Up for sale, an exceptional example of an early ’60s Precision Bass, this mid-1962 slab-board model features a professional Olympic White refinish by Fiesta Finishes and a dark Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The refinished body and neck show masterful work, with period-correct aesthetics preserved, including a re-applied ’62-style decal logo.

It’s lightweight at 8.4 lbs, perfectly balanced, and all appears original and period-correct apart from the refinish and case. The body bears a visible 6/62 pencil date, with the neck stamped JUN 62, pots dated to the 13th week of ’62, and original black-bottom pickups delivering that unmistakable warm, punchy P-Bass tone.

The original tortoise shell nitro pickguard and shielding plate are in excellent crack-free condition. All hardware: nut, tuners, string tree, bridge, thumb rest, knobs, and strap buttons, is original, with both bridge and pickup covers included (bridge cover believed original, pickup cover possibly later vintage). There are no extra routings.

The neck is a slim, fast-profile typical of the era (.790″ at 1st fret, 1.72″ nut width), with a professional refret, recent fret crown, and smooth setup strung with D’Addario Chromes flats. The truss rod works perfectly both ways, and the neck is straight. A small, stable hairline crack near the E-string ferrule is purely cosmetic.

Housed in a rare G&G brown tolex case with matching brown interior and rounded handle, this bass represents one of the last slab-board Precisions ever produced. Ships professionally packed and insured to the Continental US and select international destinations.
