Description
Pre-CBS 1964 Fender Bassman Amp 6G6-B 50-Watt Blonde Tolex with Black Panel
up for sale, here is a transitional early ’64 Fender Bassman Amp head, featuring the 6G6-B circuit in original Blonde tolex with a Black panel. This is one of the last Bassman heads produced before Fender transitioned to the AA165 circuit and full Black tolex production.
This example retains the correct 6G6-B presence control, cream knobs, and black panel layout, exactly as seen on these short run transitional amps.
The amp is all original, including all transformers, original blonde tolex, and original grille cloth. The only noted details are the missing back panel, the badge logo and a properly installed three prong power cord, for safety reasons. Otherwise, the amp remains with no mods.
It has received routine professional maintenance and has been retubed with vintage RCA and GE tubes. The amp functions perfectly and sounds fantastic.
While originally designed for bass, the 6G6-B Bassman is equally revered as a guitar amp. This circuit is widely regarded as one of Fender’s best sounding and most versatile designs for both guitar and bass.
Cosmetically, the amp is in very good condition overall, showing honest vintage wear consistent with age, with no major issues or abuse.
This is a highly desirable transitional Bassman, ideal for players and collectors looking for an original example from the final Blonde era.
It ships out to Continental US and some select international destinations.
