Gibson Midtown Standard Vintage Sunburst w/Upgrades (Curtis Novak – Babicz)

Up for sale, an incredible 2013 Gibson Midtown Standard Bass in a gorgeous Vintage Sunbust finish in Excellent condition. Made in USA, with some really cool upgrades (worth around $700) that includes a set of Curtis Novak pickups (EB-0 Vintage Wind neck which is probably the closest to an original ’60s Mudbucker and EB-Bridge, both direct replacements) with a Babicz Full contact bridge (much better than the OG 3-Point stock). Made in USA in 2013, with its original hard case and tags.

Lightweight at just 8.6 lbs. 34″ scale. Semi-hollow, chambered body with F-holes. Lightly used. Original and classic Vintage Sunburst finish. It has a classic Mahogany body with Maple top. The electronics have been slightly modded to Neck pickup volume, Bridge pickup volume and Master Tone, replacing the original 3-way toggle pickup switch making it more versatile to blend both pickups at your taste.

It has a traditional and rounded Gibson bass neck profile with a Mortise & Tenon joint type of set neck, a classic Gibson. A beautiful piece of Mahogany and Rosewood fingerboard, 12″ radius, binding and acrylic dots, Grover tuners, nut width is 1.6″.

Inspired form the ES335 (or you can think of a large scale version of a 1960’s EB-2D) , these were made only from 2013 – 2018 and have been discontinued, however these still remain guy in demand because of its really nice tone and extremely well constructed (All American made) like no other at this price range. The Curtis Novak pickups definitely raise the bar to a superb sounding instrument, making it more versatile in reality than any other Midtown Bass listed.

Aesthetically, The bass is pretty clean, with very minimal wear (very minimal buckle rush on the back of the body) however it’s in great overall shape and fully functional. The instrument has been used or played with the utmost care. It comes with  its original black tolex case with its tags, warranty info card and Allen wrench. The neck is perfectly straight (truss rod  works perfect as expected) and without any fret issues. It’s been professionally set with low action, strung with a fresh set of D’addario Nickel 0.45-.105″ and it plays amazingly well.
