Description
1983 Fender American Vintage ’57 Precision Bass Olympic White AV57 Fullerton Reissue
Up for sale, here’s an incredible and RARE (Fullerton Reissue) Fender American Vintage ’57 Precision Bass in a stunning Olympic White. Made in Fullerton, CA USA in 1983. 100% all original in SUPER CLEAN condition,
Definitely one of its kind, why? Well, it’s a yellowed factory original Olympic White over 2-tone Sunburst, instead of Blonde like most of current AV reissues. Although it looks like Honey Blonde, as you can see underneath the pickguard and cavities, it’s clearly Olympic White. We’ve seen only a couple of these and the reason of the White is because is solid color (unlike Blonde that is trnaslucid). See the photos.
If you know the history about these instruments made between 1982 – 1985 you know why these are so special and collectible. Fender took very seriously their very first Vintage Reissues by using some stuff from the Pre-CBS years. They all have period correct neck profiles with lightweight bodies, along with period correct details such as Nitrocellulose finishes, gold anodized aluminum pickguard, pickup with A string raised poles, reverse tuners, electronics, thumbrest and covers.
Lightweight at 8.4lbs – Definitely with almost no play wear at all, pretty clean considering it’s a 40-year old instrument.
Video will be uploaded soon. We can send photos upon request if you want or need more details, just send us a message.
The neck is the typical all Maple with a the walnut skunk stripe on the back and Maple fretboard with black dots, reverse tuners, super smooth, medium/slim and typical 1.75” nut width and 0.79” neck thickness at 1st fret. The truss rod works perfectly smooth as it should.
Dated on the neck 1-13-83. Pots dates 41st week of ’82, pickups have barely visible dated ’83 (with A string poles raised). Frets are original and have very minimal wear, it plays really well thought the whole neck. Currently set with very low action without any fret issues whatsoever. It has been set with a fresh set of D’addario Nickel Round wounds and it really plays amazingly well and as close to an original 1957 P
It comes with its Original and period correct tweed case in excellent condition with all the latches working. It also comes with its original bridge cover (which seems like it’s never been used until we installed to for the photos). We never got the pickup cover and there’s no drilling on the body.
It will be professionally packed, shipped & insured to continental US only. Free local pickup in LA is also welcome.
