1967 Gibson EB-0 Bass Cherry

Up for sale, here’s a very cool example of a player’s grade vintage (not a reissue) 1967 Gibson EB-0 (SG) Bass in Cherry. You can tell right away this is definitely not for the collector, however it’s perfect for someone looking for a real vintage ’67 Gibson Bass with lots of Mojo at an affordable price tag.

This is an Original Gibson EB-0 that someone at some point added a Fender Jazz Bass pickup in the bridge position. The routing has been made years ago and it looks a clean job, in fact the Pickup is an original Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass ’60s bridge pickup. There ‘re signs of at some point someone might’ve put either a pickup frame or cover around the bridge pickup and you can see some filled screw holes (barely noticeable). Other than that, there are no other routes nor modifications on the bass. The original neck pickup has been swapped for a Dimarzio DP120BK humbucker pickup (think of a Dimarzio on steroids version of the original mudbucker), and the original 3 point bridge has been upgraded to a Hipshot 5G400C Supertone. Both these are direct replacements for the bass and we believe these are really cool upgrades. The Cherry finish appears to be original, however we believe there might be some areas where it might’ve been over sprayed with clear coat.

Pots, knobs and added 3-way switch are newer and the controls are like a Jazz Bass (V/V/T with 3-way typical Gibson configuration). Other than that, everything else appears to be original and period correct. Body and neck are in incredible shape without any cracks at all. Serial number shows 03XXX and because of the original tuners and dot on the “I” letter on the logo and all features indicates this is clearly made in 1967.

The bass is great shape, trussed works perfectly well with a straight neck, it plays great. It’s lightweight (7.2 Lbs). Frets shows moderate play wear although they still have plenty of life ahead. It has everything you can expect from a real vintage short scale Gibson EB-0 Bass. It’s been priced accordingly pretty low if you compare it to others.

The instrument comes with a non original but still vintage from the ’60s generic leather case with blue interior hard case that serves the purpose.
