An amazing example of a transition era early 1965 P-Bass. Being one of the early production CBS era, these instruments are known for retaining most of the features and mojo from the pre-CBS years. Besides the re finished body (no mods, no re routings whatsoever), all parts appears to be original and period correct, including a Mint pickguard which is in Excellent condition (which is rare) without any cracks.
The Dakota Red nitrocellulose lacquer finish combined with the mint nitro aged pick guards creates a stunning combination. The refin appears to be made decades ago and it seems pretty decent job.
The neck is something else, it comes still what appears to be a Brazilian rosewood fretboard with pearl dots. Its finish is all original and has the typical worn in the back throughout years of playing which makes it very smooth to play. The profile is slim profile (0.790″ Neck thickness at 1st fret and .960″ at 12th fret). Nut width is 1.75″. Frets appears to be original as they show moderate wear, allowing low action and playing throughout the whole fretboard evenly without any dead spots. The Neck is perfectly straight, with truss rod functioning both ways. It’s been professionally set and strung with a fresh set of D’addario flat wound. The bass really plays amazingly well.
The instrument comes with its Original pickup and bridge covers, thumbrest and its original Fender black tolex hard case (which is in very good condition all latches work and in great shape.
This is a great opportunity to own a real ’60s Precision Bass at an affordable price tag (same instruments with all original custom color finish go over twice the price, check for yourself).
It’ll be professionally packed and fully insured to Continental US only. Local pickup in LA is also available at no cost.
