1973 Magnavox era Ampeg V-4B 2-Channel 100-Watt Bass Head Amplifier ,

Up for sale, an incredible (Not a Reissue) Ampeg V-4B Bass Amp Head made Made in the USA in 1973. Just serviced by Audio Rehab here in LA (are recapped and re-tubed).

The Black line was pretty identical to the earlier Blue Line, with two inputs (2-Channels). Compared to the SVT, to me the V-4B sounds warmer and less aggressive, kind of the Ampeg version of the Bassman.

Cosmetically It’s really clean overall, really well preserved and fully functional, sounding amazingly well as it’s supposed to be. The Vintage grille looks stunning. The only changes through the years are the tubes, it’s been recapped, new resistor and a 3 prog power cable for safety reason (this is what you’d expect from a nearly 50 year old amp). All tubes were purchased as a matched set from Tubedepot, All Power amp and preamp tubes are JJ’s with the exception of the 6K11 Tube that is a GE. All the maintenance just performed (I can show with receipts) it’s worth over $650. Amazing opportunity if you wanna get a real deal V-4B that is at it 100% fully working condition and will serve for years.

As you can imagine, Local pickup in LA is much preferred. Although i can ship it out to Continental US, you got to understand that shipping this beauty has a cost (It’s more than the courier, it requires the proper double box, removing the tubes and secure them, padding and insurance).
