1973 Gibson SG III Cherry Sunburst
Up for sale, here is a vintage 1973 Gibson SG III in Cherry Sunburst, a rare and short lived Norlin era model, fewer than 1.000 ever produced, and one of the best kept secrets in the vintage SG world. It features a solid mahogany body and mahogany set neck with a rosewood fingerboard, paired with its original pair of Gibson “Tarback” mini-humbuckers with black plastic covers and matching rings, delivering a punchy, articulate voice with plenty of bite. The volume and tone knobs with two slide switches, a signature of this model, and all electronics remain completely original and unmolested.
The guitar is in excellent condition for its age, with no cracks, repairs or modifications, and is all original except for upgraded Grover Rotomatic tuners and a newer ’90s Gibson USA brown Tolex hardshell case.. At just 6.2 lbs, it is wonderfully light and resonant.
It ships out professionally packed and fully insured to Contnental US and select international destinations.
