2005 Guild D55 Dreadnought – Tacoma WA USA Made.

This is a 2005 Guild D55 dreadnought, built at Guild’s Tacoma, WA USA facility during the years Fender owned the brand and ran acoustic production there before closing the plant in 2008, a relatively short and increasingly sought after chapter of Guild historybetween the beloved Westerly, RI era and Guild’s later moves. The D55 is Guild’s flagship dreadnought, built with a solid Sitka spruce top over scalloped bracing, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck with a walnut center strip, and an Ebony fretboard and bridge, the kind of traditional, all solid wood construction.

This example is in Very Good condition and comes with its original hard case. It shows beautiful patina and checking throughout the body along with some modest playwear, a small ding on the back of the neck, all consistent with an honestly played instrument rather than a closet queen, and structurally it is completely solid, playing perfectly with no bump anywhere on the top. There is a professionally repaired small hairline crack running from the bottom of the top through the bridge area (barely noticeable), which is purely cosmetic and has never compromised the guitar structurally, the top remains flat and stable. It was just professionally set up with low action and a fresh set of medium gauge strings, and it plays like an absolute dream.

Worth noting, this particular guitar has an under saddle piezo pickup installed (it appears to be a Fishman) with no onboard preamp.
