1976 Gibson Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst

Up for sale is a killer 1976 Gibson Les Paul Standard in a beautifully aged Cherry Sunburst finish, built in the Nashville, TN factory during the Norlin era. Weighing in at 10.0 lbs, it’s solid but nicely balanced, right in the sweet spot for a ’70s Paul.

This is a true player’s guitar: full of vibe, natural wear, and mojo, but structurally solid with no cracks, breaks, or routing. It features a 3-piece maple neckpancake mahogany body, and big headstock, with a pro refret that makes it play beautifully across the board. The neck is straight, and the truss rod works perfectly.

It’s mostly original, including:

  • T-Top humbuckers with Patent # stickers (possibly original — either way, they sound amazing)
  • Original pots dated early 1976
  • Original hardshell case (black tolex, purple interior, all latches work)

At some point, Schaller tuners were installed (leaving extra screw holes), but it’s now fitted with a fresh set of Klusons. There’s a newer set of knobs. The “Standard” designation on the headstock was removed, but theserial number (prefix 99) remains partially visible — very common for the era. Importantly, the pickup cavities are untouched, confirming this is an original Standard, not a mini-humbucker conversion.

Cosmetically, the guitar shows honest wear: light finish checking, hardware patina, and some fading, everything you’d expect from a well-loved vintage Les Paul.

Set up with D’Addario 10–46s, ready to go. Ships to the continental US and select international destinations. Local pickup in Los Angeles also available.

This is a fantastic chance to score a real-deal mid-’70s Les Paul Standard with tone, feel, and vintage soul, at a price not far off a new one.
