2013 Fender American Vintage ’63 Precision AV63 Bass Faded Sonic Blue

For sale is a stunning and increasingly rare 2013 Fender American Vintage ’63 Precision Bass in Faded Sonic Blue. This sought-after, discontinued model is 100% original and in excellent condition, featuring a gorgeous nitrocellulose finish that has aged beautifully over time.

Weighing just 8.6 lbs, it’s lightweight, resonant, and perfectly balanced. The bass comes with its original blonde tolex case and case candy, including the pickup and bridge covers, thumb rest, registration and warranty cards, hang tags, stickers, case keys, polish cloth, and a period-correct brochure, just like what Fender included back in the early ’60s.

Cosmetically, it’s very clean with only minimal signs of wear typical of nitro finishes—just a couple of tiny edge marks, nothing noticeable or distracting. These minor imperfections are expected even on brand new nitro-finished instruments, as noted in Fender’s lacquer care insert included with the bass. Overall, it’s in excellent condition well preserved, lightly played, and clearly well cared for.

This particular AV’63 has a neck that sets it apart: a comfortable and slightly slimmer C-profile, closer to the feel of an AV’62, measuring .810″ at the 1st fret and .980″ at the 12th. It features the classic 1.74″ nut width, 7.25″ radius rosewood veneer fretboard, reverse tuners, and a spaghetti logo. The neck is straight, the truss rod functions perfectly, and it’s currently strung with D’addario Nickel (.045–.100).

An authentic, vintage P-Bass thump. It plays exceptionally well, comparable to some original ’63s instruments I’ve had the chance to own.
